Written by Margaret Barber under the pseudonym Michael Fairless. Barber is best known for this work, which became a classic upon its publication, the book going through thirty-one editions in ten years. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece, and seven coloured plates. Illustrated by Edward Wilkins Waite, an English landscape painter.
