True story based on experiences of the author who initially went to the Falklands Islands for two seasons sealing in the 1950s but was then persuaded to stay and serve on the Antarctic Survey Vessel "John Biscoe". This vessel was to supply personnel and supplies to the Falkland Islands Dependencies in Antarctica. The author also brings together the history of whaling in South Georgia. Facinating reading.
