    Description 1st Edition: Association Copy, presentation plaque to Tony Baker: 190 pages, illustrated throughout with b/w and colour photographs, maps and diagrams. Includes appendix (dog numbers; a family tree of BAS dogs; mileages) and index. illustrated with colour photos throughout. The removal of dogs from the Antarctic followed an amendment to the Antarctic Treaty in 1991. Environmentalists concerned that the distemper-like virus which had affected the seal population in the North Sea may be linked to dogs, pressed for this change. (Subsequently the Antarctic dogs were proven to be distemper free). Before their removal in 1994, the last two huskie teams went on a final field trip led by John Sweeny and John Killingbeck.
