Description 1st Paperback Edition; 164 pages, illustrated, colour and b/w photos, maps. The recollections by the author of life in Antarctica working for the British Antarctic Survey in the 1960s when he signed up as a meteorologist. " Living in the Antarctic in the 1960's meant coal stoves, melting snow for bath water, and running husky dogs. Michael spent two years on the icy continent, one year at Deception Island and one year at Adelaide Island. Ships relieved the isolated bases every eight months. A return in 2005 showed an increase in fur seals and whales, but huskies were no longer allowed to be in the Antarctic." Appears unread.
