The first full biography of Rymill (1905-1968), a major, yet little known explorer who was a member of the expedition of Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology to Canada (1929) and the British Arctic Air Route Expedition to Greenland (1930-1931, for which he was awarded the Polar Medal in silver with Arctic bar); a member and subsequently the leader of H.G. ('Gino') Watkins' expedition to Greenland (1932-1933) and the leader of British Graham Land Expedition to the Antarctic (1934-1937). Amongst the awards and decorations that Rymill received were the Founder's Medal of the Royal Geographical Society, the Antarctic Bar (to his silver Polar Medal), and the David Livingstone Centenary Medal of the American Geographical Society of New York.
