VOLUME I LACKS TITLE PAGE whilst VOLUME II LACKS FRONTISPIECE, The folding map is at the end of the plates, (The plates start at plate II but I believe the map was located originally as plate I), even though the collation of the plate numbers seems to suggest a plate is missing, looking at the David & Charles reprint ALL the plates are present). Foxing to both volumes, some spotting, age marks, back of map grubby but overall in Good condition. Both volumes require rebinding "Nineteenth century classic on whaling, geography and natural history of northern waters." Appendices include meteorological tables; a chronological list of voyages from 861-1819; list of plants found in Spitsbergen; Acts of Parliament regarding whaling; dimensions of whaling ships; etc. Good.
