The object of the expedition was to extend the discoveries of the Swedish Antarctic Expedition of 1901-3 under Dr Otto Nordenskjöld, by continuing the mapping of the western coastline of the Weddell Sea. With photographic frontispiece and thirty-two photographic illustrations on nineteen plates, two photographic panoramas on one folding plate, double page meteorological table and three sketches to text. Rosove describes it as a "well-written narrative, by one of two plucky and enthusiastic youths who should have known better but didn't", calling the book 'scarce' with the dustwrapper 'uncommon', Rosove 23. Two young and inexperienced junior team members stayed to winter on a tiny islet in the Antarctic in a disused boat, a handful of instruments and a scanty stock of provisions. Not only did they survive, but they also carried out scientific work. Previous owners signature (in pencil) on front fly page.
