This is the first edition first issue without the author's preface xv, 464 pages, illustrated, b/w photos, line drawings, charts, maps. (Includiong large colured mao at end of text) Shelf wear, some fading to front cover, spine splitting, spine and edges softening, bumping to corners. Contents clean. A nice copy. 'Taylor was a geologist on the 1910-12 expedition to the Antarctic which, despite the tragedy was of major scientific interest.' Spence 1183. An important and scarce primary account of Scott's last expedition, including many illustrations not included in Scott.
