Publishing Information London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd., 1932 Description 1st English UK Edition: Translated from " Tricet Let Na Zlatem Severu" 1930 with a foreward by Karel Capek. 336pages plus one fold out map at rear. Spotting to page edges. Shelfware, covers sunned and grubby, contents clean. The author, a Czech by birth, decided to seek his fortune in the Far North, traveled by wagon across the wilds of Siberia, then on a whaling ship up to the Arctic Circle. He tells of his journey, and of how he became a successful trader, his accomodation in a cave on the rocky coast of New Siberia where he lived for over thirty years. Some argue the work to be a hoax, and is a parody of travel/adventure literature by written by Czech satirist Karel Capek (1890 - 1938). Whatever, it's a good read :) Price £10.00 Keywords arctic, polar S1-Arc ISBN Add this to your basket
