The manuscript of this book was lost for nearly two hundred years. It is an account by Bering's second-in- command of the famous voyage of discovery that established the true position of America in relation to Asia and brought back the first authentic account of the natives of the Aleutian islands. The frontis is the only known portrait of Vitus Bering. Ex library with remants of library bookolate on blank prelim, stamp to front end paper, end paper maps are missing pieces where a dustjacket was previously removed. Contents clean, no dust jacket.
