American explorer Robert Peary's interesting account of his expedition from 1908-1909 to the North Pole, the expedition in which he claimed to have reached the Pole. This was a controversial claim and was widely debated alongside Frederick Cook competing claim. The debate continues to this day, with some thinking that he simply just came within a few miles of the Pole.
