True Adventure of the Fuchs-Hillary Expedition to gather scientific information for the International Geophysical Year together with the author's own experiences. Barber arrived on an American plane and was the first Briton to reach the South Pole since Scott and his companions in 1912. Fuchs & Hillary arrived from the opposite direction by tractor.
