    Description 1st Edition; xii, 288 pages, illustrated, 16 pages of b/w illustrations, 2 maps, (1 folding). Original covers, no dust jacket. Shelf wear, covers bumped, end papers browned as usual. Previous owners signature dated 1922 on front end paper otherwise contents clean. Very interesting account of the ill-fated journey of the whale ship "Diana" during the mid-nineteenth century. The author's log of a fourteen-month whaling voyage to the North Sea and the Davis Strait, which resulted in the Diana - the first whaling steamer in Hull - becoming stranded in ice for several months. Not all survived the ordeal, but she did sail back home. A very nice copy
