Shelf wear, dust jacket has been neatly repaired with tape on inside, small pieces missing. Covers sunned on edges. Contents clean. "The Mawson Expedition has been spoken of as the last of the 'heroic age' in Polar exploration." The story of Australia's first Antarctic expedition during the winter of 1912 on the blizzard swept shores of King George V land. Altogether they trekked by sledge 600 miles or so. During the treks two of the party, Ninnis & Mertz perished.
