Some foxing, contents clean. Originally published in 1840. Written by the American lawyer and politician Richard Henry Dana, this work is a thrilling and vivid memoir documenting the author's two year sea voyage from Boston to California via cape Horn on the Brig Pilgrim and the Ship Alert beginning in 1834. A film adaptation was released in 1946. A nice copy with all the colour plates.
