William Lashly was a petty officer on the two scott expeditions and made major contibutions to each. He is best remembered for the saga of the return of the last supporting party from the south with "Teddy" Evans and petty officer Tom Crean during which Lashly and Crean saved Evan's life and for which King George V awarded both men the Albert Medal.
