Michael Banks, a Royal Marine Captain and mountaineer, was Team Leader of the British North Greenland Expedition of 1952-54, one of the largest and most complex scientific expeditions sent to the Arctic since the turn of the century. As part of the program, Banks led one of the Weasel (snow tractor) Teams on an expedition across the Greenland ice sheet, a distance of some 800 miles. Some foxing, mainly to prelims, previous owners signature, badly scrawled out in pen on front end paper otherwise contents clean. Dust jacket stained on reverse of spine.
