Original covers in PHOTOCOPIED dust jacket. Byrd's official narrative of his initial Antarctic expedition. For many it marks the end of the "heroic age" in Antarctic exploration and its replacement by the "mechanical age." Shelf wear, odd mark on front cover, previous owners details dated 1931 otherwise contents clean, end papers splitting at hinge.
