Initially published as a Juvenille (younger readers) edition it was considerd by the publisher "a great sucess". Rosove A305. Originally published in two volumes in 1909, this 1911 issue presents the expedition narrative in a more accessible single-volume format, retaining the core account of one of the great heroic-age polar ventures. A nice copy of a edition, being signed by Ernest Shackleton adds considerably to the rarity and the value.
