An account of a Soviet Expedition in which the participants flew to the North Pole and passed eleven days there. It also covers the experiences of four members of the expedition who stayed longer at the pole and the four scientists who lived for 8 months drifting on a chunk of ice in the middle of the Arctic Ocean eventually rescued off the coast of Greenland.
