Original blue cloth covers with gilt and black decoration and titling. The 'Tegetthoff' expedition, 1872-74, commanded by Payer and Karl Weyprecht, discovered and explored Franz Josef Land following their drift in the ice northwest of Novaya Zemlya. They were forced to abandon their ship, returning to Norway by sledge and boat. Arctic Bib. 13202. Previous owners bookplate on front pastedown, pencil signature on fep, hinges splitting on eps. Covers bumped, spines faded and softening, top of spines detaching, minor spotting, age toning to pages, contents clean. Very Good.
